Co-op invests £750k in larger Worcestershire food store this week

Co-op is opening a new, larger, convenience store in Redditch this week following a £750k investment which supports 17 local jobs.

The new 2,500 sq ft store on Evesham Road is around two-thirds larger than Co-op’s previous store, which was located further down the road, with a larger back-of-shop area and warehousing to improve choice, range and availability.

Running on 100% electricity, the Co-op now opens between 6am-10pm daily, and created six new jobs by developing the new larger store.

The store includes customer car parking, a bakery, and Costa coffee express, alongside an improved focus on fresh, healthy produce, ready meals and pizzas, award-winning wines, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, food-to-go and, everyday essentials. There are also Amazon Lockers and John Lewis Click & Collect.

A click and collect service is available through Co-op’s own online shop makings hopping even quicker, easier and safer, and Co-op groceries picked from the local store are also available through the Deliveroo App.

Pete Wainwright, Co-op Store Manager, said: “It is very exciting to launch a new Co-op store and create new jobs, the store has a fantastic new look, increased range and customer car parking - we are very much looking forward to serving the local community.

'We have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer in the community.”

Amy Guest, Co-op Area Manager, added, “Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally and so I also want customers to know that they can become a Member of the Co-op.

'In addition to unlocking additional value and personalised offers, our Members also make a difference to local causes, with Co-op now donating 2% to community causes every time a Member swipes their Membership card when buying own-branded products.”
