Tilda & Essential Cuisine support LACA hot meals campaign

Rice and grains group, Tilda and stocks and sauces supplier, Essential Cuisine have lent its support to LACA’s ‘Marching Back To School’ campaign, that encourages children to return to eating hot meals.

The campaign aims to encourage conversations between caterers, school representatives and parents to facilitate the return of hot lunches as soon as everyone feels like it is safe to do so.

The initiative is based on the well-known benefits to children’s attainment and development of eating a balanced diet and the belief that it’s of paramount importance to return to hot meals as soon as possible.

The Essential Cuisine chefs have been working on new ‘inspirational’ and well-balanced recipe ideas for caterers to try out this Spring and Summer. All the recipes have been approved by nutritionist and registered dietician Dr Sarah Schenker

Essential Cuisine recipes include: Turkey, ham, leek & mushroom pie, Vegan sausage casserole, South Indian crab cakes, Cheese & onion pasties and Gluten-free tuna pasta bake.

Now schools have been reopened this week, Tilda believes that there has never been a more important time to ensure that hot and nutritious lunches are brought back to school menus.

To help support LACA’s message Tilda has teamed up with 2019 School Chef of the Year winner Steven Cross of Park Community School to create some new recipes for schoolchildren.

The new recipes include: Smokey Jackfruit Jambalaya and Roasted Pumpkin and Spinach Biryani.

Tilda has also created a toolkit, which offers hints and tips to help caterers adapt in these challenging times.
