Leon & Too Good To Go set to fight food waste together

Healthy fast-casual chain, Leon and leading surplus food app, Too Good To Go have announced their joint partnership in the fight against food waste.

The partnership means that following a successful trial, all 37 Leon-owned stores are now signed up to the Too Good To Go app so that surplus food is eaten and enjoyed rather than wasted.

To date over 10,000 Magic Bags of food have been rescued by hungry consumers, saving over 25,000 kg of CO2e from being wasted.

Leading the food waste movement, Too Good To Go lets people buy surplus food and drink from restaurants, grocery stores, pubs, cafes and producers to stop it from going to waste.

Consumers can simply download the free Too Good To Go app and search for their nearby Leon with unsold food. They then purchase a ‘Magic Bag’, collect it at an allotted time and enjoy it.

The Leon Magic Bags contain a variety of surplus food from the Breakfast menu or All Day menu. Breakfast Magic Bags are available to rescue on the app for £3 and All Day Magic Bags available for collection in the evening are priced at £3.75. Both Magic Bags contain food worth at least three times the value of the Magic Bag.

The Too Good To Go partnership is just one of many sustainability initiatives introduced by Leon as part of its broader climate action strategy and commitment to make Leon as kind to the planet as possible.

Leon has always used triple-certified - organic, Fairtrade and rainforest friendly - beans for their coffee. Its restaurant customers support World Land Trust conservation projects, with every seven cups of coffee helping save 1m2 of Tanzanian rainforest. Through the amount of coffee served via its restaurants to date, Leon has directly helped save over 8 million m2 (2,183 acres) of rainforest or around 564,282 trees.

Wherever possible, all Leon restaurants are supplied with power from a 100% green UK electricity source, which also contributes to menu items having a lower carbon footprint.
