Hand Picked hotels acquires Guernsey hotel


Hand Picked Hotels, the operator of 18 upmarket country house hotels, has acquired the St Pierre Park hotel & golf resort in Guernsey for an undisclosed sum.

The four-star resort, which was bought from SandpiperCI, features 131 bedrooms, major conference and banqueting facilities for up to 360 people, a leisure spa and a range of dining options. Set in 35 acres, there is also a nine-hole par 3 golf course, a spa, gym, tennis courts, a croquet lawn, a trim trail, crazy gold and a children’s play area.

Hand picked Hotels, created by Julia Hands and her husband Guy Hands are intending to extend its presence in the Chanel Islands, adding to its existing L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa in Jersey.

This September the company will also launch Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath which is currently undergoing a £10m refurbishment.

Last month, Hand Picked Hotels reported a pre-tax loss of £6.9m in the year ended 29 November 2012, following on from a loss of £7m the year before. Turnover decreased by 0.7% to £59,911,036. Operating profit decreased to £510,000 from £730,000 in the previous year. EBITDA was £8.3m compared with £8.9m in the previous year.
