San Carlo heads for Selfridges Manchester

San Carlo group is to extend its positioning in the department store market by taking on two restaurants in the Selfridge’s Manchester department store.

The concepts will be a small plates format, San Carlo Bottega, and a café, deli and takeaway called Pharmacia del Dole. They will be on the second floor and in the basement respectively, and will open around the end of October.

San Carlo has built a strong reputation in Manchester, and is seen as a good fit for the department store. It now runs 11 restaurants in all, including in cities beyond Manchester including Liverpool, Leeds, Leicester, Bristol and Birmingham.

The firm has also spun off other concepts like San Carlo Cicchetti, another small and sharing plates operation that it has taken to Piccadilly in London. Given its latest plans for Selfridge’s, it would seem that this is the brand earmarked for growth.
