Bespoke Hotels is set to transform the former Midland Bank headquarters on King Street, Manchester into a 60-bedroom hotel which chairman Robin Sheppard intends to make ‘the sexiest hotel in Europe’.
The new Gotham Hotel will be located on the upper six floors of the historic building and is expected to open in spring 2015 after a year of development work. The ground and basement floors are already occupied by Jamie’s Italian.
Bespoke will now work with the building’s owners the Marshall Construction Group, to transform it into a luxury hotel with 60 deluxe rooms, a restaurant, private members bar and roof garden. A number of suites will also include their own private internal garden.
Work on the building will start in March 2014.
