McColl’s Retail Group plc, the convenience and newsagent firm, reported the first half of the year's results with a like-for-like sales rise of 2.1%. Total sales for the period were up by 3.6% to £444.2m.
The group also announced that Dave Thomas has been promoted to COO. Also, James Lancaster, currently Chairman and Chief Executive, will become fully focused on his role of Chief Executive while John Coleman, currently Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairman, will become Non-Executive Chairman.
The company celebrates the opening of its 750th convenience store last month and plans to increase its stores numbers to approximately 1,000 by the end of 2016. This follows the successful listing of McColl’s Retail Group plc on the London Stock Exchange in February this year.
