Rodizio Rico launches new concept at Birmingham landmark complex

Brazilian restaurant operator, Rodizio Rico has launched a new Italian dining concept at The Cube in Birmingham.

Osteria Rodizio Rico is the latest independent brand to open in the iconic city building, bringing relaxed all-you-can-eat Italian food on a fixed price menu.

The brainchild of Rodizio Rico owner Mike Nayla, Osteria offers authentic – and limitless – pizza and pasta, alongside his established Brazilian churrascaria restaurant.

Nayla explained, “There is such a demand for Rodizio Rico’s quality food that it made sense to expand. However, rather than simply add more tables to the existing restaurant, we have invested in a fresh concept for this space, to complement the authentic Brazilian cuisine of Rodizio.

'The first ‘rodizio de pizza’ was opened by an Italian immigrant in the Brazilian city of Caxias do Sol in 1972. The concept is the same as our ‘rodizio de carne’ offering – only this time we serve unlimited pizza and pasta for a fixed price, instead of the barbecued meats in Rodizio Rico.

“We opened the doors last week and the restaurant was full all weekend, with many Rodizio customers keen to sample the full selection of authentic Italian dishes, and delicious desserts including tiramisu savoiardi or cremoso al pistachio.”

The fully licensed restaurant, built as an extension to the popular Rodizio Rico on Level 7 of The Cube, is offering its fixed-price ‘eat as much as you like fresh pizza and pasta’ casual dining menu from £7.90 for lunch (£5.50 for children) and £11.90 in the evening (£7.90 for children).

Rodizio Rico offers diners their choice of unlimited charcoal grilled meats, carved at the table by experienced passadors. The lively atmosphere has made the canalside restaurant a popular destination for families and large groups of friends.

Director of The Cube, Neil Edginton added, “The Cube has become renowned for high quality international food, served up by energetic, independent brands.

“Rodizio Rico brought the concept of churrascaria to Birmingham and customers have loved the easy-going, friendly character of the restaurant. It is one of The Cube’s best known and most popular venues so we are excited to taste the new flavours that Mike Nayla and his team have created at Osteria Rodizio Rico.”

The Cube, on Wharfside, is an iconic landmark building housing independent restaurants, offices, residential apartments, the boutique Hotel Indigo, a luxury spa and gym, and the UK’s largest automated car park.
