£36m iconic Chester hotel comes to market

Chester’s iconic hotel, Hallmark Hotel The Queen Chester has come to market through Christie & Co, with a £36m price tag.

The venue, located directly opposite Chester train station, is available free and clear of existing brand and management and offers extensive asset management and consented development opportunities.

The hotel boasts 218 bedrooms split across two inter-connected buildings; The Queen, the original Grade II-listed property with 131 bedrooms, and the Kings, a former office now housing the remaining 87 bedrooms.

The hotel’s city centre location, bedroom numbers and flexible meeting facilities attract strong levels of corporate business from a number of multinational companies located around Chester such as Unilever and Vauxhall.

The proximity to Chester train station and access to the major motorway network, coupled with the large on-site parking, maintains the hotel’s status as the prefered choice for meetings and events. Nearby attractions such as Chester Racecourse, Chester Zoo and Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet centre mean it is superbly located for leisure and tourist guests visiting the city.

Barrie Williams, Managing Director - Hospitality at Christie & Co, commented, “After receiving unsolicited bids, we advised management that the investor market for these types of hotels / locations remained strong. Hallmark Hotel The Queen Chester offers fantastic value enhancement and asset management opportunities to generate further revenue and profit for the business, some of which the owners are currently implementing and others which have the benefit of planning permission.

We therefore expect the property to appeal to a wide range of buyers including those looking to purchase a single asset, to those looking to expand their current portfolio. We anticipate high levels of interest from national and international investors attracted to the UK market.”
