Wagamama COO becomes Chief Executive

David Campbell has stepped down as chief executive of Wagamama with immediate effect, having joined the firm in 2013. Campbell is replaced by Jane Holbrook, the noodle bar chain's chief operating officer.

In a statement, Wagamama said Campbell will continue to act as special adviser to the company, but it did not give a reason for his departure.

Holbrook, who joined as chief financial officer in 2014, said she was delighted to take on the role at the helm of the company, which is working to build its international presence in Europe and the US.

Holbrook established her early career in with seven years at Whitbread, before joining TDR Capital and working closely with Pizza Express, ASK, and Zizzi. She has also held the role of Group CFO at Bramwell, Novus Leisure and the Soho House Caprice Holdings and Birley Group.

The company is currently owned by private equity vehicle Duke Street Capital and Hutton Collins. Last month, Edi Truell, a City financier and former Boris Johnson adviser, said he was plotting a bid for the firm.

According to reports, Wagamama is expected to be put up for sale soon.
