Coventry pub sees £110k refurb through Ei

The Longford Engine pub, situated on the outskirts of Coventry, has just relaunched after Ei Publican Partnerships. sunk £110k into a major refurbishment.

The revamp includes a new kitchen fitted, ebabling the pub to introduce a food offering. Also, the interior was given a full makeover, with new fixtures and fittings, fully refurbished toilets and a restored conservatory.

The garden area, which backs onto a canal, has been enhanced and new signage has significantly improved the pub’s exterior.

A newcomer to running pubs, Wesley Burke, took over the venue last August year. He said, ‘I’ve lived in the area all my life so I knew the potential this pub had. There is a vibrant community around here but the pub has been lacking investment and was underused as a result. I spoke to my regional manager about my ambitions for the pub and he fully supported the idea of a refurbishment.

‘Running a pub for me was a career change – I wanted to do something different and it’s been great so far, but I’m really excited about the new opportunities this refurbishment will bring. I am certain we’ll attract many more customers including local families in the area.’

Ei Publican Partnerships regional manager, Peter Hooker, added, ‘We’re always delighted when someone from the local area takes on a pub and has a vision with the local community in mind.

‘Wesley has been a very dedicated publican since he took on the Longford Engine so we were keen to support his ambitions. We’re certain this refurbishment will significantly increase his trade and provide a welcoming destination for local people.’
