Two new eateries sign up at East Yorkshire shopping complex

Wykeland Group has today announced that Buca di Pizza and FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will join the impressive leisure line-up at the Flemingate shopping complex in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar, due to open this summer, will take a 7,670 sq ft unit. Designed by JS Design Partnership, the interior will have a distinctive American feel, combining urban industrial fittings with bright neon signage, classic car parts and bric-a-brac.

A bespoke Airstream-style aluminium caravan has also been specially designed and made in Beverley to create a unique private dining booth. The menu will offer a range of signature American dishes from a smoker and wood-burning grill, served alongside an extensive selection of house cocktails, beers and spirits.

The new restaurant will be the second of a new concept launched by the management team at the BurningNight Group, who also launched the successful Potting Shed Bar and Gardens with sites in Beverley and Bingley.

Buca di Pizza – loosely translating as 'the pizza pit' – will take a 3,200 sq ft unit between FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar and Gourmet Burger Kitchen, with space for 120 covers inside and a further 45 covers outside.

The pizza brand have invested £350k on the new restaurant and bar a bistro-style setting with an exposed kitchen and pizza oven.

The growing pizza chain will offer traditional Italian classics with a contemporary twist by incorporating cuisines from around the world. Owned by brothers Geoff and Nick Thornton, this will be the brand’s fourth site in the UK with the aim of establishing a string of 10 restaurants across the M62 corridor within the next three years. Buca di Pizza is set to open in August.

Allan Harper, CEO of Potting Shed Trading Ltd, said, “The debut FirePit site in Bingley, which sits alongside our Potting Shed Bar and Gardens site, has been so well received that it gave us confidence that the two very different styles complement each other perfectly.

'We feel the American décor and menu work very well and this is something totally new for Beverley which we are confident Flemingate customers will really enjoy.”

Jade Renner, Operations Manager for the company, added, “We believe FirePit will be a great place for all ages, including families during the day.

'We’re hoping to create a fun, lively atmosphere in the sports bar area where we’ll have a giant 3.5m-wide LED screen showing live matches and games, along with shuffleboard and pool tables and pinball machines.”

David Donkin, Property Director at Wykeland Group, added, “Both budding brands are clear examples of the fast paced growth of independent business in Yorkshire and we are delighted they have chosen Flemingate as destination to continue this momentum.

'The latest signings demonstrate the centre’s strength as a location for investment and also its strong appeal as a leading retail and leisure destination in the region.

'Both Buca Di Pizza and FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar have a distinctive and unique offer that will complement and enhance the existing dining line up.”

The £120m shopping centre opened in 2015n on the site of a former chemical works and includes a multi-screen cinema, 80-room hotel and a college campus.
