Konings plans £35m expansion of Boxford soft drinks factory

Belgium-based Konings is to submit plans to Babergh District Council for a £35m expansion of its soft drinks factory in Boxford, with the creation of 116 new jobs, in addition to the 90 already employed.

The company took over the Pepsico soft drinks manufacturing plant on Brick Kiln Hill last year, but has continued to supply juice for the two PepsiCo juice brands, Trop50 and Copella.

Konings is planning a new bottling and canning facilities, with aims to produce up to 203 million cans of cider a year. The expansion will bring an additional £3.7m in annual income to the region.

The facility produces Trop50 juices and Copella fruit juices, which include six apple juices such as Apple & Lavender and Apple & Rhubarb, plus two orange juices.
