McDonalds trials UK home delivery with Uber

McDonald’s has launched a home delivery trial in a tie-up with UberEats, Uber's food delivery offshoot.

The new service is being rolled out to 22 restaurants in London, seven in Nottingham and three in Leeds. Users of the app who live within a mile and a half of the outlets will be able to order from the McDonald’s menu, then a bicycle or moped-riding courier will drop it at customers’ doors.

The Telegraph quotes Claude Abi-Gerges, the owner of five London McDonald’s franchises, each of which are running the trial, he said, “Delivery is something that my customers often ask about so it’s exciting that we’re now up and running with McDelivery in a selection of my London restaurants.”

“We’re thrilled that we’ve been chosen as one of the first groups of restaurants in the country to offer the service and look forward to hearing our customers feedback.”

The fast food giant will consider rolling out the delivery service if the trial proves successful.
