Grilled cheese toastie cafe opens in Chester

A grilled cheese toastie cafe, Meltdown, has been opened in Chester by self-confessed cheese lover Laura Lautrete, who secured a government start up loan for her venture.

The site in Handbridge offers grilled cheese sandwiches in a variety of different ways. All feature a special three cheese blend, freshly grated by the Good Cheese Company in Tattenhall, and come served on artisan sourdough bread or croissants.

Diner can have their toasties with macaroni cheese, chillies, tuna, ham or even baked beans, and there's even a sweet version with Nutella and marscapone.

Sides and extra toppings include homemade slaw, jar of pickles, jalapeno mayonnaise and sriracha sauce.

For beverages there are craft beer, cider, wine, soft drinks, as well as a range of coffees.
