Second Doughnotts bakery set to open in Derby this month

Co-owned by Megan Scaddan and Wade Smith, The Nottingham Doughnut Company is to open a second Doughnotts bakery in Sadler Gate, Derby city centre, on 31 August.

The couple, who were inspired by New York doughnuts, began making the sweet treats in Scadden's home kitchen and selling them via Facebook and on a market stall at weekends.

In November 2015, they opened their first shop in Nottingham's Long Row, and now sell around 7,000 doughnuts each week. The cakes are produced in a bakery unit in Colwick which employs ten staff.

The current bakery store serves up over 50 varieties of doughnut, which are made from vegan dough, including Salted Toffee, White Chocolate Strawberry Pixy Dust, Peanut Butter Nutella, Lemon Meringue, Cookies & Cream, Cherry Bakewell and its most popular, Red Velvet.

Scaddan and Smith have also revealed they have future plans to launch a site in Leicester.
