Usain Bolts Tracks & Records of Jamaica to launch in UK through CDRG

Usain Bolt's Tracks & Records of Jamaica is looking to launch a chain of 15 restaurants across the UK over the next five years, having agreed a partnership with Casual Dining Restaurant Group.

The Jamaican-based franchise company, FRANJAM, has agreed a deal worth around £750K with CDRG to launch the Tracks & Records eateries across the UK, with the first location slated to open later this year.

The Jamaican-themed restaurant, which boasts the eight-time Olympic gold medallist as a key partner, started operations in Kingston, Jamaica in April 2011.

Tracks & Records restaurant opened its first franchise last year to hotelier Christopher Issa and has since expanded to three restaurants in Montego Bay.

FRANJAM's Managing Director, Gary Matalon stated, “For us this is a significant milestone in the company's development. When we created the Tracks & Records concept it was done with these major markets in mind. The UK has been a key target market for us since the conceptualisation stage over seven years ago and there is no greater satisfaction than to see it unfold in this way.

“This confirms brand Jamaica's potential and gives us widespread hope that we can export many other Jamaican brands through this business model.'
