Sodexo Prestige doubles wedding bookings at Pittodrie Stadium

Event catering specialist, Sodexo Prestige Venues and Events has doubled its wedding bookings at Pittodrie Stadium over the past two years as part of its strategy to enhance the stadium’s presence in the local event market.

Following a targeted marketing initiative over the past two years, Sodexo has seen the number of couples choosing to have their big day at the home of Aberdeen Football Club double. This special wedding package has been well received by newlyweds, as it offers such a unique space for loved ones to tie the knot, which has resulted in an incredible 22% increase in bookings between 2016 and this year.

Couples aren’t just seeking an unusual venue for their special day, they also want to ensure they have a first-class food offering, as well as support to make sure the day runs smoothly for the couple and is as stress free as possible.

The chefs have designed two different food offerings, which include a set three course menu or a three course à la carte option. The package at Pittodrie ensures every couple receives a full wedding service to help them plan their special day and make sure all the finishing touches are in place. This includes a red-carpet welcome with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, table decorations, planning with a dedicated event coordinator and a chance for unique photo opportunities around the famous ground.

Debra Lorimer, sales manager for Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, said, “Our approach for the stadium over the past couple of years has been to showcase its versatility as a venue outside of match days. Pittodrie is a really special location in the city and it’s extremely rewarding to see the number of people selecting the stadium as their venue of choice for their big day.

“Opening the turnstiles to movie nights, larger events and private functions, we’ve worked hard to make the stadium more than just the home of Aberdeen Football Club. It offers a unique space for a wedding and with our expertise in delivering all the important small details, the happy couple can sit back and relax on the day knowing they are in safe hands.”

With the wedding season now in the full swing there are at least seven more weddings scheduled for summer 2017, as well as hosting multiple events over autumn and winter. The Dons ground will host a Drive-In Cinema experience where adults and children will be able to experience six classic Halloween and Christmas movies from their car.

A planned Hogmanay dinner dance to bring in 2018 is also planned, with the Club’s mascot, Angus the Bull being just one of the surprises in store for this family friendly celebration.
