La Fromagerie Bloomsbury set to open next month

Further details have been revealed regarding La Fromagerie's third site opening in London's Bloomsbury next month.

The new branch will occupy a prime corner site on Lambs Conduit Street featuring its signature Cheese Room, the ground floor will feature a shop selling seasonal fruit and vegetables, breads, cakes, and own label products, along with a 26-cover bar and café with al fresco pavement dining.

Downstairs the Tasting Room, featuring a glass covered courtyard, will be available for private hire and tutored tasting events. The space will also sell table wares, glass and linens alongside special one-off pieces sourced from antique markets in France, Italy, and Belgium.

La Fromagerie Bloomsbury will be open every day beginning with their signature breakfast menu, followed by a menu showcasing the produce sold in the shop with cheese and wine pairings alongside charcuterie, a smoked salmon and oyster bar, freshly prepared salads, seasonal dishes and of course its famous Fondue Savoyarde. The menu will be offered late into the evenings Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Weekends will feature a brunch menu served until 3pm.

During the extensive renovation, various architectural features of the late Georgian building were uncovered. This heritage will be accentuated in the design, with features such as a long marble top bar with brass accents, wooden panelling, and deep dark green velvet banquettes, together with antique light fittings.

Founder, Patricia Michelson, and Director, Sarah Bilney commented, “We’ve been looking for a long time for a place that felt right for us. In Lambs Conduit Street, we have found a warm sense of community with a wonderful mix of shops and restaurants, alongside local businesses and residential. We’ve been made to feel so welcome already by the locals, we can’t wait to open.”

La Fromagerie began when Patricia Michelson bought a wheel of Beaufort Chalet d’Alpage, La Fromagerie’s signature cheese, in a farmers’ market in Meribel while on a skiing trip in 1991. After selling the cheese from her garden shed back in London, she graduated to a stall in Camden Market, before opening her first site in Highbury in 1992.

La Fromagerie expanded to a larger shop and café on Moxon Street just off Marylebone High Street in 2002, alongside growing the wholesale side of the business, which now supplies top chefs and restaurants in the UK, including Marcus Wareing, River Café, Noble Rot and The Ledbury.
