Wahaca announces launch of new taco kit & seasoning mixes

Wahaca, the UK’s leading Mexican restaurant group founded by Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, has announced the launch of a new Sweet & Smoky Barbacoa flavour soft taco kit alongside a range of Seasoning Mixes to launch on 21 August, in partnership with All About Food.

The new products follow the successful launch of the brand’s Soft Taco Kits range last summer, which launched exclusively in Tesco stores nationwide before expanding to Sainsbury’s and Booths stores. The ‘At Home’ range has enabled fans of Wahaca to enjoy the true taste of Mexican cuisine outside of the group’s popular restaurants, and with the launch of these additional products diners can now get even more creative with their cooking.

The new Sweet & Smoky Barbacoa (RRP £3.69) soft taco kit takes inspiration from Mexico’s celebratory dishes - during traditional barbecue feasts, meats are often marinated in a blend of dried chillies, herbs and spices and then cooked overnight in a large pit. The new kit echoes these flavours but is mild enough for the whole family and includes a barbacoa marinade made from a blend of ancho chillies, smoky chipotle and guajillo chilles, a tomato and ancho salsa as well as flour-corn mix tortillas for wrapping up your taco creations.

The new seasoning mix range (RRP £1) will be available in two varieties, each with their own blend of spices and chillies to add flavour to meat, fish and vegetables. With a choice of Herb & Chilli and Tomato & Chipotle, the mixes are a fragrant blend of herbs, spices and chillies tailored to bring aromatic seasoning to all manner of dishes from tacos and quesadillas, to tostadas and grilled fish. The seasoning mixes are designed to be sprinkled over meats and vegetables to allow any cook to make Mexican food from scratch and bring a different dimension to any dish.

Of the new Wahaca products, Miers said, “After the amazing response we had from our first range of kits, we are really excited to be expanding our At Home selection with more flavours and products to help people recreate the flavours of Mexico and Wahaca in their own kitchens. It’s been a lot of fun creating and refining the flavours, and we hope they become a staple in people’s store cupboards.”

Wahaca’s At Home product range is available at up to 900 Tesco stores nationwide (and Tesco.com/wahaca) as well as up to 465 Sainsburys stores and all Booths stores.
