Nisa Heritage sausage sales sizzle despite soggy summer

Despite the very mixed summer weather for barbecuing, sales of Nisa's Heritage Gourmet sausages have increased with the highest sales yet to members in the first week of August.

Almost £20k worth of sales were made to independent Nisa retailers in week 18, confirming the own label sausage range as a firm favourite.

The Nisa own label range, which was extended in time for summer, includes six varieties all of which are ideal for the breakfast occasion as well as being perfect for family meals.

Tracey Redfearn, brand manager for Heritage at Nisa, said, “Sausages are about more than just barbecues. They make an excellent choice for breakfast and our Heritage Gourmet range especially offers a fantastic choice for the weekend breakfast occasion.

“Members can really exploit this in store and encourage sales, particularly considering the competitive pricing of just £3 per pack or Buy Two for £5.”

The Gourmet range offers six mouth-watering varieties; the three new additions of pork and apple, pork and onion and pork chipolatas along with the improved old favourite pork, the Cumberland and the Lincolnshire sausages.

And as autumn draws ever closer, there are more opportunities for sausage sales to continue to rise.

Redfearn said, “Sausages are so versatile; they can be used in such a wide range of family meals and the Gourmet range is perfect for a whole host of family favourites – sausage casserole, bangers and mash and toad in the hole to name a few.”

Andy Cowin, Nisa’s Trading Controller for meat and poultry, said, “Our Gourmet sausages are made from only the highest quality British meat. Sales are continuing to grow and the multibuy deal drives value and also delivers great cash margins for retailers.”
