Wadworth brews seasonal ale for fiftieth year

Wadworth, the Devizes-based family brewer and pub operator, has brewed its seasonal ale Old Timer for the fiftieth year.

The classic winter warmer remains true to its original recipe, has an ABV of 5.8% and is brewed using Pale Ale, Crystal and Black malts with Fuggles, Goldings and Sovereign hops.

Old Timer is deep chestnut in colour with a strong, malty aroma and full-bodied complete flavour which is particularly well paired with slow-cooked beef stew, black pudding, blue cheese and caramel or toffee desserts.

Andy Weaver, head brewer at Wadworth, commented, “This ale has always been very popular with Wadworth beer drinkers. Old Timer was originally brewed to welcome back farmers after a hard day's work in the winter fields.”

Old Timer is available in pubs across the Wadworth estate throughout December and January. It is also available in 500ml bottles, all year round, from the Wadworth online shop and selected retailers across the South West, including Morrisons, Spar and Co-op.
