Balls & Company goes global for Christmas celebrations

This Christmas, Balls & Company, the meatball specialists on Soho’s Greek Street, will take festive diners on a whistle stop tour around the world with a specially created menu of meatballs and sides inspired by flavours from across the globe.

Upon arrival, guests will each receive a homemade gingerbread, festively decorated, with tables beautifully laden with yuletide flourishes, before starters of Camembert Churros with cranberry, Christmas surprise arancini filled with mozzarella and pesto, and Sourdough bread with a healthy dose of brandy butter, kick off proceedings.

Celebrating the culinary diversity of festive traditions around the world, guests will then choose their city, with meatballs and specially paired sides representing Christmas far and wide.

Founder, Bonny Porter’s hometown of Sydney, will evoke a sense of Christmas spent on the beach around the barbecue with Prawn sui mai and sweet chilli, accompanied by Charred hispi cabbage with blistered chilli.

Over to the USA and Boston will offer a nod to traditions of Thanksgiving with a Turkey and stuffing ball with cranberry sauce, paired with Hasselback potatoes with herb butter. Los Angeles will represent celebration without the guilt, with Kale, edamame and avocado balls with cashew dressing, and a fennel, herb and rice noodle salad.

South Africa’s Cape Town, who are in the height of summer during Christmas, will see a Boerewor balls with Mrs H S Balls chutney, while hailing from our own fair shores, a London meatball of Ham and stuffing with maple glaze, accompanied by Crispy brussel sprouts, lentil and herbs will offer the traditional British flavours of Christmas.

To finish things on a sweet note, desserts will include Steamed pudding balls with brandy sauce, a Festive meringue wreath, Pumpkin pie balls with a pumpkin seed brittle, and Santa’s very own Macaroon with Persian fairy floss.

Founder and head chef Bonny said, ‘Christmas is one of my favourite times of year, especially in London where a kind of festive magic seems to settle in the air. As an Australian in London though, I do miss home, and it got me thinking how different my family Christmases were growing up and the unique traditions we all have around the world. This menu is really a celebration of all that, and what better place to do it than the diverse city of London’.

Balls & Company’s Christmas Balls Around the World menu will be available from the 5th of November until the 31st December.
