Rhubarb to open restaurant in Londons transformed Centre Point

Rhubarb, the premium hospitality group will open VIVI at Centre Point by rhubarb in London next April.

Almacantar, the property investment and development company, is re-establishing Centre Point as a premium London landmark. The transformation of Centre Point will result in 82 apartments, with a new square at the base of the skyscraper that will be surrounded by 45,000 sq.ft of new restaurants and shops. The new square will be located next to the Crossrail entrance at Tottenham Court Road and will create a link between Fitzrovia and Covent Garden.

The 16,000 square foot all-day restaurant, designed by SAY Architects, will be the flagship dining destination within the much-anticipated Centre Point revival. With 290 covers, VIVI will occupy the main floor of the bridge link at Centre Point, overlooking London’s newest square and Oxford Street.

The nostalgic British menu, inspired by the 60’s will include modernised dishes such as chicken à la king - sautéed chicken, mushrooms, cream and white wine, accompanied with warm biscuits; cauliflower cheese croquettes with slow roasted tomatoes and Lea & Perrins; and banana splits to share. The vibrant interior will include digital art, geometric patterns - including the original tiling down the wings of the grade II listed space, a central marble bar and signature lighting mimicking the original 60’s toy Play Plax.

PB Jacobse, Managing Director at rhubarb, said, “We are delighted to be developing another distinctive new food and drink concept in what is one of the London’s most iconic buildings. We have every confidence that VIVI will reflect the creativity, style and precision synonymous with the rhubarb brand”.

Following an extensive multi-million-pound refurbishment, VIVI is set to make its mark on London’s gastronomic map, strengthening the rhubarb operation which includes outlets in some of London’s most important visitor attractions and high volume sites including Sky Garden, Royal Albert Hall, Saatchi Gallery, Heathrow T3 and T5, London City Airport, Royal Ascot Racecourse and Goodwood Estate.
