Flintshire 18th century hotel plans major expansion

Plas Hafod Hotel is looking to invest £4m in the expansion of its hotel at Gwernymynydd near Mold, Flintshire, including 30 new bedrooms and about 20 jobs.

Currently offering 11 bedrooms, the family-owned 18th century hotel needs to be extended in order to meet the tourism demand.

Under the plan the extra rooms would be sited to the side of the current hotel building, which dates back to the 1700s.

Simon and Colette Buckley, who have owned and run the hotel for nearly 30 years, have been working with heritage body Cadw and planning officers from Flintshire council on the plans.
