Hart brothers to launch second Mexican eatery next month

The team behind Borough's El Pastor is set to open a tortilla factory and taco bar next to Maltby Street Market at the end of March.

The 26-seat Tortilleria El Pastor, which will be launched by brothers, Sam and James Hart, and Crispin Somerville, will make fresh tortillas from scratch every day.

Customers can dine in at tables (20 seats) or at the taco bar (6 seats), or take dishes away. There will be a special machine, which was bought from Mexico, to make the tortillas and the chefs will only be using Mexican heirloom corn.

The menu will include the signature Al Pastor, along with dishes like the Mushroom Taco with caramelised onion & melted Oaxaca cheese. Sopes, which are thick corn mini maize cakes with toppings, will be new entry.

El Pastor’s first batch of its own mezcal, will be available, which was made in partnership with Mexico’s La Clandestina mezcaleria. There will also be Mexican beer.
