The Thorn Inn in Johnstone, Renfrewshire has been brought to the market through Christie & Co, with a price tag of £450k-plus, as current owner, Pamela Castell plans to retire.
The traditional pub is laid over two levels and boasts an impressive barrelage performance. The extensive bar area on the ground floor is set out around three areas. There is also a large private car park for up to 15 cars to the rear.
Extremely popular with the locals and benefitting from a degree of passing trade, the inn has multiple opportunities to further increase revenue. The business currently does not have a food offering, an area of business that could be introduced to increase turnover.
Additionally, there is an apartment on the upper floor, which is currently not in use, but could be refurbished as owner’s accommodation or has letting potential.
Current owner, Pamela Castell commented, “After 21 years, it is with mixed feelings that I have decided to place the business on the market with my planned retirement.”
Brian Sheldon, Regional Director of Christie & Co who is handling the sale, said, “The Thorn Inn represents a typical provincial pub, a meeting place for the local community which has served many a patron over the years. Prominently positioned, the pub is 100% wet sales driven and there is tremendous opportunity to further increase trade, especially if a food offering was introduced.”
