Top rated Cumbrian hotel reduces price to gain new ownership

The asking price of a Grade II-listed country house hotel in Cumbria has been reduced by Christie & Co to £995k.

The Farlam Hall Country House Hotel, near Brampton, is set within 3.5 acres of gardens and woodland, with a stream and ornamental lake.

The hotel features 12 luxurious bedrooms, there are two guest lounges with open fireplaces, a fully equipped catering kitchen and a 40-cover restaurant.

Also featured on the site is ample space for car parking to the front of the premises and two substantial stone buildings with lapsed planning permission to potentially develop into additional accommodation.

Owned and operated by the Quinion family for over 40 years, the hotel is well-renowned and highly regarded, having been consecutively featured in The Good Hotel Guide for the past 38 years and recently been awarded the Booking.com Guest Reviews Award 2017 certificate after it received a rating of 9.5 out of 10, which is considered as exceptional by the online booking site.

The business is also a member of the prestigious and exclusive Relais & Chateaux Association of Independent Hotels and holds a civil wedding licence which represents an area of great potential for future business development.

Mark Worley, Director at Christie & Co’s Newcastle office who is handling the sale, commented, “Farlam Hall is a wonderful hotel which has been lovingly owned and operated by our clients for many years. Their care and attention to detail shines through with the accolades the hotel has earned and the high quality of the property.

'With abundant possibilities for further investment and development, plus additional revenue streams, the business provides a lucrative opportunity for the right buyer.

'There is a healthy demand for country hotels, particularly those which are close to tourist sites, national parks and commercial areas, and can also offer areas of development and expansion – and Farlam Hall ticks all these boxes.”

Available by separate negotiation are additional residential properties; Laundry Cottage, a recently refurbished detached two-bedroom bungalow ideal for use as owner’s accommodation or as a holiday-let, and Stable House, which offers a large three bedroom, two bathroom family home with a patio, walled garden, pony paddocks, garage and forecourt parking.

Also attached are two large self-contained cottages and a detached double garage with a large bedsit above, with ample parking.
