Pret A Manger's first vegan cookie will be introduced to shops, alongside other vegan options, on Tuesday 17 April, just in time for spring.
Customers are always asking for more vegan sweet treats and snacks and, as a result, Pret is now launching its first vegan bakery item – the Dark Chocolate & Almond Butter Cookie. It combines vegan dark chocolate with almond butter and a little sea salt to make a delicious vegan sweet treat.
The new spring menu also includes Vegan Chilli Flat Bread, a Chef’s Specials which will be available from 1 May to 2 July. This is a spicy vegan chilli alongside creamy avocado, charred corn and black bean salsa. Pickled onions provide a slightly sharp note while red peppers and mixed salad leaves add crunch and bounce.
There are also variety of options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and flexitarians, such as protein-led salads, including a lightly smoked roast salmon salad with black rice and a Buffalo Mozzarella & Pesto salad, Pret’s Protein Box, a Beef & Chimichurri Baguette.
Hannah Dolan, Head of Food Development at Pret, commented, “We’re thrilled to be launching a new range of salads and products this spring. I’m especially excited about the vegan cookie, which combines almond butter with dark chocolate and sea salt to make the perfect afternoon treat. We’re also introducing several new ingredients to our menu for the first time, such as black rice and ancho chilli.”
This week Pret is also launching a plastic bottle deposit return trial in its three Brighton shops. 10p will be added to the price of all Pret-branded plastic bottles and the deposit will be returned when a bottle is given back to teams to recycle. The aim is to understand how many bottles are returned and to see if it encourages more customers to opt for a reusable bottle. If successful, the scheme will be introduced to more shops.
