Co-op invests £2.25m in two new Nottingham stores

The Co-op is set to serve-up two new food stores in Nottingham this summer, with a £2.25m investment creating up to 30 new jobs.

The community retailer opens the first of its two new Nottingham stores in Bramcote Lane, Chilwell, on Thursday, 28, June. With a further store set to open in University Boulevard, Beeston, in early September.

Both stores will have a focus on fresh, healthy, foods, meal ideas, food-to-go, and essentials.

Co-op stores also bring a funding boost locally through the Co-op’s Membership scheme – Members receive a 5% reward on the purchase of own-brand products and services, with the Co-op donating a further 1% to local causes.

Students holding a NUS extra card receive a 10% discount off their groceries at the Co-op to support them during their studies.

Those interested in exploring retail opportunities at the Co-op should have a passion for food, customer service and community. More information is available from the Co-op’s store in Queens Road, Beeston.

Simon Taylor, Co-op Area Manager, said, “We are delighted to have the opportunity to carry out such a significant investment in Nottingham - we are proud to be part of the community, and our ambition is to ensure all of our stores are a local hub, a real asset locally.

“We are investing in our people, stores, products, prices and communities – our aim is for stores to be at the heart of local life, bringing communities together and offering great quality products, when and where our members and customers need them.

“We also want customers to know that they can become a co-owner and member of their Co-op. And, that we are also giving back to the community. Our members make a difference locally, simply by swiping their membership card when they shop with us they raise much needed funding for organisations in the area who contribute to improving local life.”
