Opening date & new dishes revealed for The Oystermen expanded site

On Monday 22 October, The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen in Covent Garden will relaunch as an extended space that joins together both 31 and 32 Henrietta Street.

The popular dining room in 32 Henrietta Street will remain, and continue to offer views of rising star Head Chef Alex Povall and his team cooking up the finest daily fresh fish, seafood and hot oysters in the newly-enlarged open kitchen, which has been expertly designed by Target Catering.

The adjoining space in 31 Henrietta Street will see the introduction of a brand new all-day oyster and raw bar with seating saved for walk-in guests, plus an extra dining area next to a striking spiral staircase leading to the restrooms.

Renowned for their exceptional seasonal fish and seafood dishes, the expanded kitchen will allow Povall and his brigade to serve up a wider array of delicious options, such as Roast Scottish halibut with Jerusalem artichoke & chicken broth, and sharing meals like Whole sea bream for two, baked in salt & lemon thyme crust, with braised kale, caramelised onions & anchovy.

New hot and cold seafood platters will also become available, as well as an even bigger blackboard of freshly-shucked oysters from even more locations around the UK. Old favourites including their infamous hot Buffalo oysters, prized whole Dorset brown crabs and innovative tempura oysters will still have pride of place on the lunch and dinner menus.

The new venue will showcase a selection of Sake for the first time, alongside a larger list of sparklings and wines by the glass, plus the duo’s 'Everyday Oyster Stout' collaboration brew with Canopy Beer Co poured on draft.

Co-founder Rob Hampton said, “The past 12 months have been an absolutely fantastic journey! The feedback from customers and the reviews we’ve received have made it a real privilege, and it’s amazing to have the opportunity to expand our existing site.”

Co-founder Matt Lovell added, “We’re now getting stuck into the refurbishments and we can’t wait for everyone to join us when our Seafood Bar & Kitchen reopens on Monday 22nd October!”
