Punters searching for the perfect pub have revealed one of the main factors that helps them find the ultimate watering hole.
According to a recent Nicholson’s Pubs survey, 60% of potential pub goers see ‘variety’ and an ‘exciting range of beers’ as key considerations when it comes to deciding where to go for a pint.
Nicholson’s Pubs announced the results to mark the launch of its third annual Autumn Beer Showcase, a month-long event championing all things beer. Running now until 4 November, it allows hop heads and guests the chance to try some of Britain’s best brews with over 40 special ales and craft beers on offer.
Guests will spot a wide and thirst-quenching range of taps on offer at Nicholson’s Pubs across the UK, with small and famed brewers set to feature prominently throughout the showcase, including the likes of London Brewing Co, WooHa, Siren, Ilkley and Fyne.
Beer fans will be happy to hear a number of special ‘Meet the Brewer’ events and tasting evenings will be popping up at specific pubs, giving aficionados the opportunity to discover new flavours and uncover the secrets behind a perfect brew.
Ben Lockwood, beer and cider procurement manager at Nicholson’s Pubs, said, “For the second time this year we’re partnering with some of the finest breweries in the UK to launch a series of Tap Takeovers.
'Our pubs and guests love being able to discover a full range of beers from one brewery, and it allows us to plan a host of fun and engaging events across the UK to celebrate. Look out for favourites, exclusives, and specials across the next six weeks.”
Two 'Meet the Brewer' events will be taking place across the city for both London Brewing Co and Siren Brewery, at the Strand’s Coal Hole and the St Georges Tavern in Victoria respectively.
With beers such as St Pancras from London Brewing Co., brewed in honour St Pancras Station’s 150th birthday, and Siren’s special Halloween ale, a Nicholson’s Pubs exclusive, “Here’s Johnny!” featuring, there will be plenty on offer for beer fans right across the capital.
Tasting evenings, where beer experts and those looking to broaden their horizons will be able to sample some of the stars of the showcase, with the help of the brewery’s experts, will be popping up at Nicholson’s watering holes in the South East.
Popular Scottish brewers Fyne and WooHa will be showcasing their knowledge to the punters of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Fyne will be holding tastings of the likes of their Maverick and Hurricane Jack beers, along with an exclusive Meet the Brewer event happening down at Edinburgh’s Rose Street Brewery. Glasgow will be treated to WooHa’s fine ales during their takeover of the Drum & Monkey pub, featuring brews such as Off Kilter and Sunshine IPA.
The team from Ilkley will also be holding tastings across the county, popping up at pubs like the Cross Keys in York, the Alexandra in Harrogate and the Scarborough Hotel in Leeds. These events will give beer fans the chance to meet the brewer and try out some of their enticing new brews, as well as the popular Mary Jane pale sessions ale.
