New landlady for £160k revamped Ei pub

Local woman Gillian Humble has taken on her first site with Ei Publican Partnerships following a significant investment of £160k.

The refurbishment of the Lion & Lamb pub in Horsley, Newcastle upon Tyne, has transformed the bar area, including new furniture and a brand-new bar top.

The revamped offer includes an a la carte menu along with traditional pub classics, including a Sunday roast with all the trimmings. All meat, fish and vegetables will be sourced locally where possible. The drinks offer includes a new cocktail and wine menu introduced ahead of the festive period, as well as a new range of craft and cask ales.

Humble said, “When there was an opportunity to take over the Lion & Lamb, I couldn’t wait to speak with Ei Publican Partnerships. I worked at the pub growing up but then became a cabin crew assistant, but it’s always been a dream of mine to own my own pub. This venue is a big part of the local community so I really want to build on its heritage.

“The pub looks incredible after the refurbishment and we’ve already had some fantastic feedback from locals on the new look and feel of the pub. We look forward to welcoming back customers old and new.”

The pub will host a number of entertainment nights including a regular pub quiz and open mic nights, as well as coffee mornings. Gillian is also forging closer links with the parish council and village clubs to ensure the pub continues to be at the heart of the community.

Humble added, “The refurb has come at a great time with the busiest period ahead of us. I’d like to thank Ei Publican Partnerships for giving me the opportunity to run the Lion & Lamb.”

Ei Publican Partnerships Regional Manager, Stuart Ireland, added, “We’re delighted Gillian has taken over the Lion & Lamb. With her experience working in the pub, allied to her local knowledge and the fantastic offer she has put in place, we’re confident it will be a success.

“We’re always willing to work with ambitious and passionate publicans to help give them a good start in the business. Through providing investment and support where appropriate, we can help reinvigorate pubs for the benefit of their local communities.
