Popular south London pub under new leaseholder

Savills, on behalf of Joka Ltd, has secured Taucher Enterprises Ltd as the new leaseholder of The Waverley Arms in Nunhead, south London. The lease was acquired from a guide price of £150k.

The pub, which has been a neighbourhood establishment for 100 years, is in a sought after residential location. The property is comprised of a ground floor bar, beer garden and front terrace area. The nearby train stations of Nunhead and Brockley are within easy walking distance of The Waverley.

Under the new ownership the pub will offer fresh food with table service with a refurbishment planned for the summer. Alongside this The Waverley will offer Sunday roasts and theme nights including Fish Fridays and Pie and Pint for £10. A new weekend brunch will also hit the menu. Douglas Taucher, who will run the pub, has held senior positions with both Faucet Inns and Livelyhood, before taking on The Waverley.

Chris Bickle, director in the licensed leisure team at Savills, commented, “The Waverley Arms is a historic neighbourhood pub with an excellent reputation with the new owner keen to build on this and create a hub for the local community. We are pleased to have been involved in the sale of the property and securing its future and wish it every success.”

Douglas Taucher, of Taucher Enterprises Ltd, added, “I am delighted to have taken over such a fantastic venue in an increasingly popular area. We look forward to making the Waverley Arms the hub of the community for many years to come establishing a reputation for fantastic food, fabulous service and a great local to watch the sport in!”
