Historic Sussex Hotels acquires fourth West Sussex site from Ei Group

Historic Sussex Hotels has acquired Ei Group's Black Horse in Climping, West Sussex, through Fleurets, marking its fourth site.

A family-run firm, Historic Sussex Hotels’ existing sites include Bailiffscourt, Ockenden Manor and The Spread Eagle Hotel.

With an interest and passion for historic and architecturally interesting buildings, a spokesperson for the company commented, “We are excited to add The Black Horse in Climping to our portfolio and look forward to beautifully restoring the pub to its former glory.

'Each of our hotels and spas are unique in style, character and history and united in a commitment to offering a relaxing, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

'As a family we are passionate about hospitality and delivering the highest standards of comfort, service and food. We aim to be welcoming guests in the spring of 2020.”

Nick Earee from Fleurets, who brokered the transaction on behalf of Ei Group, said, “We are thrilled to have completed on the quick sale of this Grade II listed 17th century property and to the perfect purchaser; we began marketing the premises in late November last year off a guide price of £500,000 for the freehold.”

Richard Phillips of Ei Group added: “We are pleased to have sold this site to excellent operators in Historic Hotels, who have an outstanding reputation. It is also pleasing to see that the building, which has been operated as a pub for nearly 180 years, will continue to be used and enjoyed by locals and guests alike.”
