150th Punch Retail pub opens after £500k investment

Punch’s 150th retail site has opened following a £500k investment by the independent pub company. The Railway pub in Ramsbottom is being operated with father and daughter duo, Iain and Naimi Davies, who take over the site as their second pub with Punch.

The major transformation has created a larger trading area, the kitchen has been extended and the toilets relocated to create more space. The external area also celebrates the local heritage of the pub being opposite the Ramsbottom steam railway station with new signage, lighting and carriage style booth seating.

Iain Davies, who also runs the White Horse in Harwood with Punch, said, ‘’We are excited to be here at The Railway; we pride ourselves on running a fantastic pub that serves great food and that is exactly what we will do here. The investment has really done the pub proud and both Naimi and I are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new to see their new look pub.'

The Railway will now offer an extensive range of cask, craft and world beers, as well as premium spirits and a gin menu. A newly introduced breakfast offer is available as well as a new food menu which includes flatbreads with various toppings and sharers alongside traditional pub favourites.

The Railway will host all the key sporting events and Iain and Naimi have ambitions to create the first cashless pub in the area.

Managing Director for Punch, Andy Spencer said, “The Railway is one of our biggest investments and shows our continued commitment to creating epic community pubs. We are really proud of the new look created and are confident that with Iain and Naimi at the helm, The Railway will operate at the very heart of the community it serves.’’

Punch owns and operates 1300 pubs across England, Scotland and Wales and is investing £32m in its pub estate in the next year with the right Publicans running their pubs. It operates retail pubs in two segments, Mighty Local, and Our Local whilst also housing the Champs brand in the retail portfolio.
