New leaseholder sought for vacant SW Surrey pub

The White Lion, a vacant pub situated in Redhill, Surrey, has come to the market through Christie & Co, with nil premium for the leasehold and annual rent of £39k.

The White Lion, a detached Grade II-listed pub, catering for up to 75 covers, is available on a new free of tie lease and comprises a saloon bar, two seating areas for dining, an area currently reserved for a pool table, and trade kitchen.

Above the pub is a residential flat which is split over two floors and benefits from three double bedrooms, two singles and a bathroom with separate toilet, ideal for use as owner, manager or letting accommodation.

The site also benefits from additional seating for 50 covers to the rear of the property, a separate smoking shelter, as well as off road parking for up to 22 vehicles.

James Hughes, the Senior Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Maidstone office who is handling the sale, said, “This vacant pub is an ideal opportunity for a new operator looking to make their own mark by renovating and rejuvenating the property and business, helping to integrate it back into the local community once again.

“Due to its ideal location in the growing town of Redhill, which has some exciting developments next year, and the substantial size of the property, we anticipate plenty of interest for this pub which offers huge potential.”

Redhill is a thriving commuter town in southwest Surrey at the foot of the North Downs and forms part of the London commuter belt. The town is already a popular shopping destination with many well known stores, a twice weekly market, plus it is also due to benefit from the new Marketfield Way Development in 2020, which will include a multiplex cinema, new restaurants and cafes and residential apartments.
