WH Smith partners with Sainsbury’s to boost grocery offer In hospitals

WH Smith has teamed up with Sainsbury’s to bolster the grocery offering in its hospital stores to support under-pressure NHS staff during the coronavirus crisis.

Eighty of WH Smith’s hospital stores are now stocking a range of Sainsbury’s products such as food and essential household items. The 90 additional lines include toilet roll, pasta, long-life milk and ambient foods.

WH Smith said the extended offer would “enhance the convenience” of its hospital stores for NHS staff and help them access essential grocery products more easily at this critical time.

NHS staff will continue to receive a 20% discount on all products sold in the stores, including all the Sainsbury’s items.

WH Smith has previously worked with Sainsbury’s on a trial basis to enhance its food-to-go proposition in a number of its high street and travel locations.

Toby Kier, Managing Director of WHSmith’s travel division, commented, “We are so grateful for the exceptional efforts and commitment of our NHS staff and are delighted to extend our support across WHSmith hospital stores to make their days a little easier.”

Michael Luck, Sainsbury’s Director of Business Development, added, “Our phenomenal NHS staff are working incredibly hard to keep us all safe and well.

'We hope that by bringing some essential Sainsbury’s grocery products to WH Smith stores in hospitals we’ll make it a little bit easier for them to access the products they need most.”
