Victor Garvey launches delivery offer with special menu


Chef Victor Garvey is making the cuisine from his critically lauded, modern Californian Soho restaurant Sola available at home, with the launch of premium home-dining service Bento by Sola.

Bento by Sola will be available from Tuesday to Saturday via on-demand ordering platform Slerp. As in the restaurant, diners will be offered the choice of a five-course Prix Fixe (£69 per person) or ten-course Tasting Menu (£109 per person), with stunning presentation as near as possible identical to when dining in Sola itself.

Intended to appeal both to diners who are not yet feeling ready to return to restaurants and those who want the luxury of experiencing Sola at home, the food will be served in fully-recyclable contemporary bento boxes, designed simply to be opened and eaten from – no additional heating or finishing is required.

Each menu starts with canapés such as Smoked quail egg ‘Mimosa’; Dungeness Crab; and Compressed Watermelon. The Prix Fixe Menu then includes two savoury dishes, and the Tasting Menu six, before dessert (one or two respectively) and finally handmade mignardises.

Some of the dishes which feature on both menus are: Torched Mackerel with Kohlrabi; Warm Tatin of Hubert’s Tomatoes; and Squab Pigeon with White Peach, Togarashi Jus and Roasted Sand Carrot. The Prix Fixe offers a choice of Pistachio Bavarois or Chocolate Crémeux for dessert, while on the Tasting Menu both are included.

An optional pairing from SOLA’s all-American winelist, served in individual 100ml bottles, is available. Dietary requirements and allergies can be specified when ordering.

Garvey said, “During lockdown, as well as working towards reopening SOLA, which we’ve now achieved, my team and I have been developing what we feel is a truly special home dining experience.

'We know that some people aren’t feeling ready to return to our - or any - restaurant yet, so with Bento by Sola we’re taking the restaurant to them. I also know it will appeal to some of our guests who’d like the occasional luxury of enjoying Sola in the comfort of their own home.”
