Refurbed SW11 pub reopens with new menus

The Duke of Cambridge, a stone’s throw from London's Battersea Park, has reopened its doors following an extensive refurbishment.

This neighbourhood gem has had its dining space, bar and private dining room transformed. Add to this a whole host of new menus from Head Chef, Lorenzo Marras, including brunch and a Sunday roast for your pooch and it’s the perfect pub for locals, dog-owners and foodies alike.

Providing the perfect community hub, the light and spacious pub has kept its original features such as its striking Victorian bar, while adding in plush furnishings, tub chairs around the open fireplace and cosy corners, ideal for the winter months. The outdoor terrace has also been completely refreshed, with new plants and greenery, as well as an expanded seating area.

Running from breakfast to dinner, menus will continue to showcase the best of British produce, highlighting seasonal ingredients within hearty and comforting classics. For early risers, there is a new refined brunch offering, running daily from 10am-2pm.

Whether it’s a quick bite or a long, leisurely breakfast, dishes include favourites of Haddock and Leek Smokie on toasted sourdough; Beef Shin Muffin with marmite hollandaise and vegan Sweetcorn fritters with vegan feta and avocado.

Focused on comforting and rustic British pub food, lunch and dinner menus include starters such as Venison and Apple Scotch Egg with wholegrain mustard, and Spiced Cauliflower Florets with saffron mayonnaise.

Mains feature Aberdeen Angus Ribeye with marmite butter, watercress and triple cooked chips, and a Samphire and Spinach Gnocchi with maple roast courgette and toasted walnuts, as well as their Ultimate Plant Burger topped with cheese, ale onions, shredded lettuce and fries.

Those with a sweet tooth can indulge in desserts of Spiced Date Sticky Toffee Pudding with vanilla ice cream, and an Apple and Quince Crumble, served with lashings of custard and ice cream.

Sundays see the return of the Duke’s signature roasts, where guests can choose from a choice of slow cooked meats, including a 28-days-aged Striploin of beef and beef shin, as well as a vegetarian option of Wild Mushroom, Spelt and Spinach Wellington.

All roasts are served with all the trimmings, including decadent maple roast carrots, creamed leeks and Yorkshire puddings fresh from the oven, while for four-legged friends, there will be new dog roasts, a miniature pup-friendly roast portion, perfect for a post-walk treat.

At the heart of the Duke is a focus on Young’s classic cask ales and guest beers, along the best of local and craft beers, which can be enjoyed both inside and out in the garden. For wine enthusiasts, there is a curated wine list on offer, as well as a selection of spirits and seasonal specials.

For groups, the newly redecorated Terrarium private dining room provides an elegant space for family meals and special celebrations with your six, although can seat up to 15, or 35 for drinks. A secret getaway from the bustle of the pub, the Terrarium offers a light and airy space, adorned in a striking patterned wallpaper, and can be tailored to suit any need.

For a break from the office, the Duke also offers a meeting room, equipped with wall-mounted screen, WiFi and charging points, as well as options to pre-order drinks and food.
