New wine delivery service launches today

Launching today, The Sorting Table is a new delivery platform founded by Ben Henshaw, UK wine writer Jamie Goode, sommelier Paz Levinson and Raj Parr star of Netflix's SOMM series, which aims to redefine fine wine by bringing carefully selected wines directly to doorsteps across the UK.

Operating as both an online shop and wine club, The Sorting Table will focus on showcasing wines with personality. The initial range is sourced from passionate winemakers who are crafting compelling examples, at an accessible price.

The initiative has been brought together by Ben Henshaw, founder of Indigo Wine. Ben has used his laser-sharp palate and eye for undiscovered gems to curate this impressive list of wines. For their opening range, Ben and his team have tasted their way through hundreds of contenders to make their initial selection of 220 bottles, many of which have only previously been available in restaurants.

The Sorting Table will also offer a Wine Club subscription. This membership includes a quarterly delivery of either six or twelve bottles. Members will have priority access to exclusive wines and events as well as 10% off additional purchases from The Sorting Table.

The Sorting Table have partnered with high profile personalities from across the wine world to introduce a series of limited-edition cases. Released quarterly, these cases showcase a selection of six producers with whom each have a close connection.

Their first partner case has been chosen by American winemaker and sommelier Raj Parr, star of the documentary and Netflix series SOMM. For his case, Raj has drawn upon decades of experience spent on both sides of the wine business.

Shining a light on talented winemakers, Parr's case includes a graceful northern Californian Syrah, a zesty Albariño from the northwest of Spain, an off-the-beaten-track Nebbiolo blend from high in the mountains in North Piedmont and a textured white made from native varieties farmed on the volcanic slopes of the island of Tenerife. This will be an extremely limited run, with only 100 cases available to purchase.

Debuting in February, Paz Levinson, a native of Argentina, will release a case that will draw upon her many years selecting wines for the world’s top restaurants, including Anne-Sophie Pic London and Paris.

Henshaw said, ‘We want The Sorting Table to be a hub for wine lovers. I’m looking for freshness, balance, drinkability, character and a wine that is a pleasure to consume. In a similar way to the sorting table in a winery, we hand-select the best bottles for customers who want to drink quality wines made with genuine passion.’

Goode added, ‘We have this great opportunity to show UK wine drinkers what some of these incredible winemakers are up to. I’m excited by this project – I’ve worked with Ben for many years and our palates are in step, and I’ve spent a lot of time with Raj, who has an incredible palate. We like the same sorts of wines.

'The wines we are listing on The Sorting Table are the sorts of wines we like to drink. These wines have personality and represent something new which people will be excited to discover.’
