German Doner Kebab (GDK) has announced the upcoming opening of a new location at the popular North East destination, Metrocentre.
The opening of GDK Metrocentre, boasting a capacity for 42 covers within a 2,823 sq ft site, represents the brand's 143rd franchised location across the UK and its second location within the Newcastle region so far.
The restaurant group maintains its high standards by exclusively using premium cuts of meat, locally sourced salad ingredients, signature handmade sauces, and GDK's distinctive toasted waffle bread. Recently, GDK has introduced a plant-based doner, providing vegetarian alternatives for its mains, the Boss Box, and the Doner Box.
The restaurant will be situated on the ground floor of Yellow Mall, directly across from the recently expanded Primark. It will offer both dine-in options and a convenient takeaway and delivery service accessible via the GDK app, Deliveroo, UberEats, and Just Eat, catering to customers on the move.
Simon Wallis, CEO of German Doner Kebab, said: “I am thrilled to officially announce plans to bring the unique GDK taste sensation to the Metrocentre Shopping Centre. GDK is revolutionising kebabs across the UK and I am confident we will continue this trend in Gateshead.
“GDK offers a premium dining experience with game-changing kebabs that are made fresh daily by our hard-working team powered by our fantastic franchise partners. We pride ourselves in ensuring that kebabs are done right and served in a modern and relaxed environment, making it a unique restaurant experience for all new members of the ever-growing GDK community”.
Noah Knapton, asset manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, added: “GDK’s new site at Metrocentre continues to demonstrate the pull we have to international operators, delivering choice across a critical mass of global and independent restaurants.
“Sitting alongside the likes of Five Guys, Slim Chickens, and Wingstop, GDK will provide a tried and tested grab-and-go offer, and one that will no doubt hit the right notes for our visitors as we continue to build a solid F&B line-up in Yellow Mall.”
