Campari Group appoints Simon Hunt as new CEO
Campari Group has appointed Simon Hunt as its new Chief Executive Officer, signaling a major leadership transition for the spirits company.
Hunt, an industry veteran with over 30 years of experience, will assume the role after a comprehensive evaluation process by the board of directors.
Hunt will succeed interim co-CEOs Paolo Marchesini and Fabio Di Fede, who have been managing the company’s operations since the departure of the previous CEO.
Simon Hunt's official appointment is set for January 15, 2025, during a special general meeting, in line with Dutch corporate governance regulations.
He brings extensive experience in the premium spirits sector, having held prominent roles at leading companies, including a notable tenure as CEO of William Grant & Sons.
Hunt's experience spans strategic roles in both established and emerging markets, with a strong focus on the US, where he has successfully driven brand growth and enhanced operational performance.
Luca Garavoglia, Chairman of Campari Group, voiced confidence in Hunt's leadership for the company's next growth phase. 'His proven and extensive industry experience in building and scaling premium and luxury brands globally will be instrumental,' he stated.
Garavoglia also recognised the contributions of Marchesini and Di Fede during the interim period, commending their efforts in maintaining stability and ensuring a seamless governance transition.
Hunt’s career showcases a profound understanding of the spirits market, with previous roles at industry leaders like Diageo and Pernod Ricard. Most recently, he served as CEO of Catalyst Spirits, a global incubator for premium brands, where he emphasised strategic initiatives and innovation.
