Today, renowned restaurant Hakkasan has launched Wine by Hakkasan. The direct-to-home delivery service is perfect for Christmas gifting and allows customers across the UK to get a taste of Hakkasan’s meticulously curated exclusive wine selection at home.
Following the success of its home delivery service, Hakkasan at Home, launched in March and available across London, the team are delighted to be the first Michelin-starred restaurant to launch a nationwide wine delivery service, via a partnership with Slerp.
Since opening Hakkasan Hanway Place and Hakkasan Mayfair, in 2001 and 2010 respectively, the wine lists at the Michelin-starred London restaurants have been industry leading and now these fine wines and Champagnes can be delivered nationwide across the UK, or alongside Hakkasan’s Cantonese dishes to London postcodes only.
The Wine by Hakkasan selection is carefully sourced from leading vineyards across the world and exclusive to Hakkasan. Previously only available by the glass at Hakkasan Mayfair and Hakkasan Hanway Place, for the first time the bottles will be available to buy with no limit on the amount ordered and nationwide shipping.
All of the wines on the list are well rounded and versatile and chosen to be paired not just with certain dishes, but instead with whole categories of taste, meeting the demands of Hakkasan’s wide customer base. Wines from the selection span New World to Old World, across a variety of grapes, regions and budgets, ranging from affordable to fine wines.
Particular highlights include the fresh and dry Viognier LER 2017, from Yalumba in Southern Australia and produced exclusively for Hakkasan Group, alongside the fruity 2018 Verdejo Viña Sanzo and the 2018 Carmenere Maray, a classic example of a full body Chilean red where producers Tabali ferment the grapes in stainless steel and mature it in oak.
Alongside this is the rich and intense 2015 Laibach Claypot Merlot, which was first produced in 2005 for Hakkasan, with the exclusive partnership having continued ever since due to the popularity of the wine. Originally two barrels a year were produced for Hakkasan, now over 31 barrels are made with Laibach who amongst the best South African Merlot producers.
In addition to individual bottles, which can be mixed and matched by the customer, the expert team has also created a selection of mixed cases, including mixed cases of white, mixed cases of red and cases of both red and white wines.
These mixed cases create a journey through grape varieties and regions, such as the Ultimate Burgundy case which shows a wide variety of classic Burgundian appellations, all hand-picked by the Hakkasan wine team.
