JJ Foodservice set to open new branch in the Midlands

Food and drink wholesaler JJ Foodservice has revealed plans to open a new Midlands branch next year.

This will be part of a five-year expansion strategy that includes eight new UK branches and its first international location in the Netherlands.

The sale of the 35,000 sq ft premises is expected to be completed within the next few weeks, at which point JJ will announce the exact location. The new branch will provide the wholesaler with a capacity of 3,500 pallets.

Speaking at the JJ Connect conference at Convene in London’s Bishopsgate, Chief Operating Officer Kaan Hendekli said: “We’re close to finalising our new location for 2026, and we’re actively looking for more.”

To support its growth plans, JJ is investing approximately £3 million in a 25,000 sq ft multi-temperature facility at its Enfield headquarters, increasing capacity across frozen, chilled, and ambient ranges.

The investment aims to expand the wholesaler’s product range to 5,000 SKUs by next year, following a 27% increase this year to 3,800 SKUs compared with the previous year.

“We’re not just expanding our network – we’re expanding what we can offer customers,” said Hendekli. “This new space will help us serve caterers with more choice, while maintaining the same great service customers expect.”

The group’s digital performance continues to excel, with a record 79% of orders now placed online. This growth has been fueled by JJ’s nationwide kiosk rollout, as well as increased use of its app, website, and electronic data interchange (EDI) channels.

JJ Foodservice currently operates 12 UK locations: Aston, Basingstoke, Bristol, Dagenham, Doncaster, Leeds, Leicester, Enfield, Manchester, Newcastle, Sidcup, and Wimbledon.
