Deltic go upmarket with Steinbeck & Shaw concept

The Deltic Group is ramping up the declining late nate club market with the relaunch of its Caterbury Chill club as a bar concept called Steinbeck & Shaw.

Deltic, formerly known as Luminar, is revamping its Chill club with a £150,000 spend that will create a more modern and stripped-back venue. It will have 21 bookable booths, tables and private areas, with occasions like birthdays a key target. Cocktail masterclasses and a VIP area called S&S+ are other elements. Drinks will be at the premium end. Steinbeck & Shaw opens in September.

Deltic is now one of several operators in pushing their late-night operations to a more upmarket position in response to changing habits and tastes in the nightclub sector. Chief executive Peter Marks told the Telegraph recently that Deltic was now investing around £8.5m a year in its premises, with other new brands emerging including Bar & Beyond and Pryzm.

Deltic’s regional director Martin Winter said: “The launch of Steinbeck & Shaw in Canterbury is part of our strategy to constantly evolve our customer offer so that we exceed customer expectations. It’s something completely different from venues within our existing portfolio with an edgier, stripped back feel.”
