Mondelez opens new production line in Birmingham


Confectionary giant, Mondelez International has opened new production line at its chocolate factory in Birmingham.

The first of four production lines at the factory will produce Cadbury Roses and Heroes assortments and Cadbury Dairy Milk bars.

The factory currently produces 1.2 million Cadbury Creme Eggs, 5.5 million blocks of chocolate, ten million assortment units, over 400 million Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons and over one million Wispa bars every day.

Inaugurated by the UK Business Secretary Sajid Javid, the production line is part of Mondelez's £75m investment in Bournville.

Javid commented, 'Our long-term economic plan for the Midlands is to make it the engine for growth in the UK. We want to help businesses and support those who want to work hard and get on - adding £34 billion to the Midlands economy by 2030 and creating 300,000 extra jobs.'
