Molson Coors secures future of Burton brewery

Molson Coors UK has signed a deal with Planning Solutions Limited (PSL) to secure the future of its William Worthington Brewery in Burton.

The deal will see PSL brew its iconic Burton Beer at the William Worthington Brewery ar the National Brewery Centre. It comes as production of the beer was paused in April while senior figures at Molson Coors worked on safety improvements at the site, with no set date for it to re open.

PSL, specialist tourism, leisure, heritage and economic development firm, bought the brewing equipment and now intends to develop other beers and plans to refurbish and modernise the brewing facilities and bottling plant.

Molson Coors chiefs hope that the sale will secure a 'sustainable future' for the brewery with PSL set to put significant investment into the Worthington site.

Molson Coors UK & Ireland supply chain director Victoria Segebarth, said: “We are delighted to have secured a long term future for William Worthington Brewery. PSL already run the National Brewing Centre so this agreement is a natural step in the sustained success of the centre and we are confident that PSL will continue to produce extraordinary beer brands that delight customers and consumers.”
