BII Scotland launches 2016 annual awards


BII Scotland, the leading professional body for the UK’s licensees, has launched its 2016 annual awards, which will also be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the organisation in Scotland. The winners will be announced at a ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on 22 May.

Nominations are invited across ten categories, with a new award for 2016 honouring the ‘Individual Licensee of the Year’. Entry is open until 21 March and nominations can be made by email to scotland@bii.org. The judging will then take place during April and May and the winners will be announced on the night.

The categories for the 2016 BII Scotland Annual Awards are as follows:
• Bar Personality of the Year
• Bar Operator of the Year
• Scottish Brewery of the Year
• Best Business Initiative
• Social Responsibility
• Late Night Operator of the Year
• Whisky Bar of the Year
• Food Operator of the Year
• Scottish Training Award
• Individual Licensee of the Year

BII Scotland Chairman, Stephen McGowan, said, 'I am incredibly honoured to be able to host what will be an extra special event for BII members in Scotland at our awards dinner this year. We will have some big surprises on the night in addition to our award ceremony and entertainment and it's going to be a fantastic event.

“The Scottish awards from gone from strength to strength and will be even more special in our 30th anniversary; we are expecting 400 guests from the great and good of the licensed trade in Scotland to attend. We are very much looking forward to celebrating the high calibre and professional standards of those who work in our industry.”
