Lidl plans distribution hub move to double capacity

Lidl is planning to relocate its distribution centre in Weston-Super-Mare to a new 600,000 sq ft warehouse in Avonmouth.

The new warehouse is to replace Lidl’s current DC in Weston-Super-Mare, and will be double the size. Lidl has decided to make the move to accommodate the scale of future operations in the region as the company continues with ‘ambitious expansion plans’ in the UK.

The retailer has set out plans for three other new distribution centres to be opened in Exeter, Wednesbury and Southampton over the past year.

The purchase is part of Lidl’s plans to invest over £1.5bn over the next three years in expanding its store and warehouse portfolio in the UK.
